I'm Simon Steed. I build, fix and look after Umbraco websites.
I have been writing software commercially since 1995 and building on Umbraco since 2011. In that time I have personally worked on more than 200 Umbraco websites, from version 4 right through to version 17, for everyone from one-person firms to the British Red Cross and the Scottish NHS. In 2026, Umbraco named me an MVP.
This site is the freelance side of Simon Antony, the brand I founded in 2008 and now part of Simplepage Ltd, our Isle of Man company. The Umbraco Silver Partnership behind my work is ours, held directly by the company, which means direct access to Umbraco HQ support on every engagement. When you hire me, you get me: the person who scopes the work does the work, and there is no account manager in between.
I will also tell you when you do not need me. Some jobs are too small to pay a freelancer for, and some sites are better rebuilt than patched. You get an honest read either way, usually the same working day.
Three things you can hold me to.
The person who reads your first email is the person who scopes the job, writes the code and answers the phone afterwards. There is no handoff, no ticket queue and no rotating cast of juniors learning on your budget.
If a job can be priced, I price it before we start. If it cannot, I tell you why and track every hour transparently. And if you do not need a freelancer at all, I will say so and point you somewhere better.
I work from Llandudno, North Wales and the Isle of Man, and support businesses and agencies across the UK and the US. For US clients the time difference works in your favour: I am at my desk while your morning is still quiet, so fixes often land before your day starts.
