What does Umbraco support and maintenance include?

The short answer

The unglamorous work that keeps a site healthy, plus a specialist on call when something breaks. Concretely: security patches applied within 48 hours of release, package updates kept current, backups verified by test restores, monitoring that notices problems before your visitors email you, and hands-on time for fixes and small improvements. It is delivered through monthly retainers, one day a month at £500, two at £950 or four at £1,800, so the cost is predictable and the days are yours to direct. The real product is that your site stops depending on whoever happens to remember how it works. Someone is paid to know, and that someone answers within one working day, usually the same day.

The baseline: keeping the platform safe

Every supported site gets the security fundamentals as a matter of routine. Umbraco and package patches go on within 48 hours of release. Backups exist and, more to the point, are proven by test restores. Certificates renew before they expire, and monitoring watches uptime and errors so problems surface as quiet alerts to me rather than complaints to you. Details are on the support and maintenance page.

The retainer time: making the site better

On top of the baseline, your plan includes my time each month: one day on Essentials at £500, two on Growth at £950, four on Partner at £1,800. Those days do whatever your site needs most, fixing the bug editors have learned to work around, building the small feature that never justifies a project, tuning the page that got slow, or answering the "can Umbraco do this?" questions that unlock better content. Unused capacity conversations are simple because you talk directly to the person doing the work.

What it deliberately is not

It is not a ticket queue with a service level agreement instead of a relationship. You get one named specialist who accumulates knowledge of your site month by month, which is why the second year of a retainer is more valuable than the first: increasingly, I fix things before you knew they were things.

Who this fits

Teams whose developer left and took the site knowledge with them. Marketing departments who own a website but not a developer. Agencies that need dependable Umbraco cover behind their own brand. If the site matters and nobody is formally responsible for it, a retainer closes that gap for less than the cost of one emergency. Plans and prices are on the pricing page.
