Managed Umbraco Cloud hosting is £99 a month all-in on the Starter plan: the Umbraco Cloud subscription, the management, the patching and the monitoring in one price. If your site needs a bigger Cloud plan, you pay Umbraco's price at cost plus the same £99 managed service on top, so I never make margin by pushing you up a tier. Hosting on my own servers is £149 per site per month. Both options include security patches applied within 48 hours of release and backups that are verified by actually performing test restores, because a backup you have never restored is a hope, not a backup.
The first option is managed Umbraco Cloud. On the Starter plan it is £99 a month all-in: Umbraco's own platform underneath, my management on top, one invoice. If your site outgrows Starter, bigger Cloud plans are passed through at exactly what Umbraco charges, plus the same flat £99 for the managed service. The pricing is built so I have no incentive to oversell you a plan.
The second option is hosting on infrastructure I run, at £149 per site per month. This suits sites that do not fit Cloud's shape: unusual integrations, specific compliance needs, or setups a previous developer built that would be expensive to unpick. Two commitments with numbers attached. Security patches are applied within 48 hours of release, which matters more every year as scanning bots find unpatched sites faster. And backups are verified by test restores: I periodically restore them and check the result, because the only backup that counts is one that has been proven to come back. Monitoring, certificate renewals and the platform housekeeping that quietly breaks sites are included, not extras.
Generic hosts are fine at keeping servers up and useless when the problem is Umbraco itself. When something misbehaves at 9am, you want the person answering to know the difference between an infrastructure fault and an application fault without a week of ticket ping-pong. Hosting also pairs naturally with support and maintenance, so the same person who keeps the site up can also keep it moving forward.
